Coach Corry grew up in the Philippines and at a very young age learned to love the game of tennis when he would ball-boy for 5 Pesos (.25 cents) per match. He played two years of high school tennis in Kentucky, after moving back to the U.S. at age 16 and earned a scholarship to play at the University of the Cumberlands. He spent two summers coaching players from 25+ countries at Saddlebrook (Harry Hopman Tennis Academy), which was the #2 tennis academy in the U.S. at the time. He also coached clinics in China with Michael Chang (former world #2). Coach Corry has 17 seasons as a head coach, working with both boys and girls teams, and over 23+ years as a private tennis coach.
MC Tennis would not be possible without our amazing assistant coaches, who all bring significant and valuable experience to the players they coach. These coaches are an integral part of our summer programs.
Coach Tim played #1 singles for Trine University. He has continued to be a life-long tennis player, winning multiple City Championships as an adult. He continues playing in adult leagues while also serving as an assistant coach with the Bloomington South Tennis Program.
Coach Erinn grew up in a tennis family and played varsity singles for three years at Jasper High School. She was coached by Ed Yarbrough and Mike O’Connell in Jasper and these two remarkable coaches helped lead the team to the position of state runner-up her senior year. She believes dedication, mental toughness, and attitude are the essentials to success. Erinn has professionally worked with youth in education for 20+ years.
Evan was a four-year varsity player at Bloomington High School South and was part of three Sectional Championship teams. He is now an assistant coach for Bloomington South Tennis, while also being a full-time student at Indiana University in the Kelley School of Business.
Andrew was a four-year varsity player at Edgewood High School and year-round tournament player. He will be continuing both his tennis career and education at Hope College in Holland, Michigan.
Maddie was a four-year varsity tennis player for Bloomington South where she competed in both single and doubles. She is now the #1 player at Hanover College where she earned 1st Team All-Conference honors as a freshman!
Doug has been a life-long player and was the head tennis coach at Edgewood High School for 20+ years until he gave it up to assistant coach his son's team at Bloomington High School South. He is a math teacher at Edgewood High School and coaches our adult clinics for MC Tennis every summer.
Ethan got the love of tennis from his parents and played on the Bloomington High School South team for two years of high school. In addition to his volunteering with the South Tennis program and coaching for MC Tennis in the summers, he also devotes a significant amount of time to working with Sounds of South at BHSS. He is also a recent graduate of the IU Jacobs School of Music.
We are fortunate to have many talented junior coaches who are excited to help build fundamentals with young players. These coaches are current high school students (or recent graduates) who have experience playing competitive varsity tennis. For our all-ages clinics - you will see many of them coaching on our 12 and under courts.
