Middle School & High School Clinics
MC Tennis runs clinics for middle school and high school students year round. These clinics go beyond fundamentals and are focused on preparing players for competitive match play. Beginners are welcome, as players get divided based on skill level. These clinics are open to all players ages 10-18 regardless of the high school they plan to attend.
All of our clinics are offered through a drop-in format. Once you have registered, you will be added to our notification list and only pay for the sessions you attend!
$20 per hour-long session
$25 per 1.5 hour session
The length of the clinic and cost will always be noted when a clinic is announced.
School Year Clinics
August - September: clinic offerings are sporadic, as coaches are in-season with the high school team - registered players are generally notified of a clinic opportunity a few days prior to the offering
October - March: clinics are offered M/W from 3:30pm - 5:00pm as weather allows - registered players are generally notified of clinic opportunities a few days prior to the offering
April - May: we offer drop-in clinics on weekday afternoons, multiple times a week. Players need to be registered to stay informed of clinic offerings, as the schedule varies week-to-week based on court availability and weather.
Throughout the summer, we offer paid drop-in clinics 4 mornings per week (M-Th) from 8:30am - 10:00am. All registered players are invited to attend our weekly Match Day Friday (FREE).
** No clinics are held during IHSAA Dead Week (July 3-7, 2023) -or- on Memorial Day **
Match Day Fridays
Match Day Friday is open to all current/up-and-coming South tennis players (boys and girls), as well as all players who are regularly attending the MC Tennis Drop-In Clinics. There is no cost to participate. While no formal instruction will occur during this time, coaches will be walking around to provide feedback and organize matches.
The expectation is that all players attending Match Day Friday have a basic ability to rally (keep the ball in play).
** No Match Day Friday during IHSAA Dead Week (July 3-7) **
How do I register for the notification list?
All of our middle school and high school clinics are offered through a drop-in format. However, it is important to register so we can get you added to our notification lists (this is how players are notified about upcoming sessions or schedule changes).
Registration will not be complete until a signed waiver has been emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
You are welcome to attend one session -or- all of them.
How do I RSVP for individual clinics?
Registered participants with be invited to join our clinic GroupMe. This is where all clinics will be announced and where you will RSVP. It is critical for all participants to RSVP for clinic offerings more than 24 hours in advance so we have enough coaches scheduled to work.
Where are the clinics located?
All of our clinics are held at Bloomington High School South.
What will I learn?
Our middle school and high school clinics are focused on preparing players for competitive match play, including: stroke development, footwork, mental strategy, and sportsmanship. While many of the players in these clinics are at an intermediate / advanced level, beginning players of the appropriate age (10-18) are welcome to attend.
How do I pay for my clinics?
All of our 1-hour sessions cost $20 and 1.5-hour sessions cost $25. You only pay for the ones you attend!
Many of our participants prefer to pay for multiple sessions at a time (end of each week), but you are welcome to pay for each session individually if you wish.
Our preferred payment method is venmo, but payment is also accepted through PayPal, check, or cash. Payment details will be shared after registration.
What do I need to bring?
Every player should bring a tennis racquet, tennis shoes, and a water bottle.
How many participants are in each clinic?
Because we offer our clinics in a drop-in format, there is no way to determine how many players will be at each session. Historically, we have run clinics with anywhere from 10-25 players and adjust our plan for the session accordingly.
We always do our best to maintain a player-to-coach ratio of less than 6-1. Therefore it is critical for all participants to RSVP for clinic offerings more than 24 hours in advance so we have enough coaches scheduled to work.
